The history of waxed cotton dates back to Scottish mills that wove sails for the British clipper fleet. The process stayed relatively the same over the years until the early 1900s when linseed oil coating made way for impregnating the fabric with paraffin wax. By inundating the fabric with wax instead of merely adding a top layer, the wax is ensured to remain inside the fabric. Similar to our leather items, the waxed cotton will patina over time, making it a completely unique item.
