The bottle hole was a rare template used by C.B. MacDonald and Seth Raynor. Its defining characteristic is a progressive narrowing of the landing area from tee to green, challenging players to balance accuracy and length.
This is piece #1 in a series of “Bottle Hole” templates and features a flat-topped ridge line that grows narrower and higher as it works through the fairway and approach before terminating into the elevated green. The platform style green is divided into two distinct levels and fronted by a serpentine flat-bottomed bunker wrapping around an acute spur formation. Overly bold tee shots that are the slightest bit off line will funnel into the bunkers flanking each side of the fairway while a conservative shot that doesn’t carry far enough will have a level lie but a much longer second to a shallow green.
