Some people say that the Old Fashioned is one of the first cocktails ever created. It’s a light, refreshing tasting, yet complex combination of Bulleit® Bourbon RYE, sugar and bitters. We think it makes just the right kind of post round refreshment. Requesting Rye Whiskey is important; Rye is sharper and less sweet, in addition made for the traditional 19th century whiskey of choice.
Ingredients
- 1 oz. Bulleit® Bourbon Rye (In some locales, it might be necessary to request a 'Golfer's pour', in the holy book of SEAMUS an Old Fashioned should be strong).
- 0.25 oz. bitters
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 splash water
- 1 lemon slice
- 1 maraschino cherry
- 1 orange slice
Equipment
- Rocks glass
- 1 jigger
- Ice - A large cube is integral to the optimal slow sipping Old Fashioned, with less surface area it will melt slower and keep the drink cold without dilution.
- Knife
- Spoon
Method
- 1 - In a rocks glass, muddle cherry, sugar and bitters.
- 2 - Add the bourbon and a large ice cube. Twist slices of lemon and orange peel over the drink and drop slices in.
Enjoy
There is a good chance that in a sweaty polo and grass stained khaki's, just one sip will have you looking like the Reverend of style, Mr. Don Draper.
