Meet Brandon Carter, current PGA Head Golf Professional at Pacific Dunes at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort. Brandon is far from the typical golf professional. Originally a competitive baseball player from Illinois, Brandon was a typical 25+ handicap golfer when he started attending college at Arizona State University. Quite a contrast, but that isn’t even close the entire story…
Upon turning 21 Brandon decided to start taking golf more serious and signed up for a package of lessons at GolfTec. He continued his pursuit to find a swing. Just over a year later he took the PGA’s Player Ability Test (PAT) which requires potential professionals to play 36 holes in one day, post a two round total of the course’s rating plus 15. This was his second attempt, his nerves were ice cold, right? After posting 77 (exactly half of the 154 tartget score) for his first round he found his groove and fired a 68 to pass with flying colors.
During college Brandon had internships We-Ko-Pa Golf Club and Bandon Dunes Golf Resort. After college, he continued his career at Bandon Dunes. He has now worked in each golf shops as an Assistant Professional or Head Professional. He recently was promoted to Head Professional of Pacific Dunes.
Working at Bandon Dunes has its perks. Brandon has had the pleasure of playing one of the most sought out courses, The Cypress Point Club. In his spare time when not playing some of the most picturesque clubs in the world, Brandon participates in events such as the Speed Golf World Championship and the Hundred Hole Hike. Just a couple of years ago on the Fourth of July Brandon and his colleagues started out their day at 5:20AM at Pacific Dunes, hopped over to Old MacDonald, then to Bandon and finished at the Preserve at 9:20PM. One small detail, Brandon hit his most memorable shot on the fifth hole at Bandon Trails. A perfectly hit, 132 yard pitching wedge that tricked into the back of the cup for his first career Ace!

Awesome Article. Great Job Brandon. However, I think the Hole-in-One was on hole 5 at Bandon Trails instead of Old Mac.
